Secretary of Food
Here’s an awesome New York Times article discussing the possibility of redefining the position of Secretary of Agriculture into a role that actually focuses on nutrition and food rather than industrial profit (who would have thought?).

Great article and advocacy suggestion!
What struck me after reading Nestle’s What to Eat, was that we have a national food system whose goal is profit, not health. Really stunning when you think about it! We enjoyed watching a video of a Nestle lecture where she discusses a lot of the issues. It’s at

Janet Allen
Well, what a slap in the face by Mr. Obama. Naming Vislack for Sec. of Agriculture is NOT what Pollan had in mind. In fact, I think he might be the worst choice. Instead of an advocate for organic sustainable farming, we have an advocate for large agri-business, including genetically modified seeds, chemical pesticides and the like. Very disappointed in the President-elect.
