CNY Bounty opens a new delivery site in Syracuse

Central New York Bounty opened a new delivery site at the South Side Innovation Center. They’re hoping to help add to the availability of farm-fresh foods on Syracuse’s Southside. A tent will be setup outside the SSIC door every Thursday from 4pm-7pm. Anyone who makes an online order of can pick up their bags there. A myriad of food options include meats, produce, processed goods like applesauce, and other deliciously fresh products. The notion is to promote local foods and healthy alternatives to grocery stores. All the fresh food is from local sources in Madison and Chenango counties while some of the prepared food products are out of region.There is no minimum order so do not hesitate to sign up and order some food today!

Canning Talk at Marcellus Free Library

Please join Slow Food CNY this Thursday at Marcellus Free Library to learn more about Canning, Pickling and Preserves. Jessica Maxwell, who has been canning for over 10 years, will help you learn how to get started, what equipment you need and cover the basics.

July Meeting and Potluck

We’re very excited to announce that our next potluck will be held at Grindstone Farm in Pulaski on Saturday, July 17th starting at 2pm. There is a lake to swim in, so bring your swimsuits and towels, plus a dish to pass, a plate and utensils and a picnic blanket or lawn chair to sit on.

Garden Tour This Sunday

Women Transcending Boundaries invites you to experience the beauty of this season at Sycamore Hill Gardens, Sunday, June 6, 2010 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.

This magnificent private garden is located at 2130 Old Seneca Turnpike, Marcellus, New York 13108.

Enjoy breathtaking views, a myriad of blossoms, sculptures and plants from all areas of the world. Children will love the challenge of a 2200 tree evergreen maze!

Meander to the sounds of acoustic guitar performances by Loren Barrigar, James Horan & Dick Ward. Accommodations are available for those who have difficulty walking.

Tickets are $10 at the door/$8 in advance

Children 12 and under are free!

Welcome to Daily Harvest Farm

Slow Food CNY would like to welcome a new farmer to the area, Angela Nelson of Daily Harvest Farm. Angela is a native of Syracuse and has recently returned after 10 years in Massachusetts. She has worked on apprentice farms in New York and Massachusetts and hopes to one day open her farm to students looking to gain valuable skills on on growing food.

Angela will be selling her produce at the Wescott Farmers Market at the Westcott Community Center on Wednesdays from 3pm-7pm starting on June 9th. She also plans on occasionally selling at the Manlius Market on Sundays, noon-4pm starting June 6th. The Manlius Market is located behind Sno-Top off Arkie Albanese Ave.

Stop by, introduce yourself to Angela, and help support a new farmer!

Slow Food, Slow Brew – SOLD OUT!

Slow Food, Slow Brew, a fundraiser on May 23rd for SFCNY hosted by Empire Brewing Company has sold out. We would like to thank everyone that has bought a ticket — we really appreciate the support and are looking forward to a great event on Sunday. And, a thank you to everyone that had planned on buying tickets but didn’t have a chance, hopefully we’ll have more events like this in the future!

Also, a special thank you to David Katelski and Empire Brewing Company, whose enthusiasm for and hard work on this event is sure to make it a success. We’re all so excited and can’t wait until Sunday!
